BRICS 2023 THEME:

CELEBRATING OUR BROADER BRICS ALLIANCE

South Africa’s third BRICS Chairship has kicked off this year, and across the country meetings are being held, conferences convened, and our fellow BRICS partners are being hosted, in person, after three years of near wholly online gatherings. While the pandemic era years brought with them new and different ways of collaboration, there is a palpable sense of excitement amidst the heightened activity that comes with planning and executing in-person events, especially in this post-pandemic paradigm.

There is also the exciting potential for fostering deeper research networks, which often occurs through the discussions that follow robust policy dialogues and meetings, something the SA BRICS Think Tank prides itself on. As with 2018, and especially now in 2023, the SABTT looks forward to welcoming academics, researchers, civil servants, and members of the diplomatic corps from across the BRICS member states and our continent, as we hold the 15th Academic Forum, from 14-17 May, in Cape Town.
