Think tanks from five BRICS countries, participating in the 5th Academic Forum meeting in Durban, have announced the setting up of the BRICS Think Tanks Council (BTTC).
Think tanks from five BRICS countries, participating in the 5th Academic Forum meeting in Durban, have announced the setting up of the BRICS Think Tanks Council (BTTC). The BTTC will strive to enhance cooperation in research, knowledge sharing, capacity building and policy advice between think tanks in BRICS countries.
The members of the BTTC are: Observer Research Foundation (India), China Centre for Contemporary World Studies (China), National Committee for BRICS Research (Russia), Institute for Applied Economic Research (Brazil) and Human Sciences Research Council (South Africa). The Declaration, signed by leaders of delegations for the BRICS Academic Forum, said the BTTC will form the platform for the exchange of ideas among researchers, academia and think tanks, and it will be responsible for convening the BRICS Academic Forum. It said the functions and modalities f cooperation will be further elaborated at the mid-term meeting in October 2013.
