The BRICS Environment sector refers to the cooperative framework among the BRICS countries, focused on addressing environmental challenges, promoting sustainable development, and enhancing ecological resilience through joint initiatives, policy dialogue, and knowledge sharing.
Guided by the BRICS Environment Ministers’ Meeting and supported by expert working groups and technical cooperation, this engagement covers key areas such as climate change mitigation and adaptation, biodiversity conservation, pollution control, circular economy, water and waste management, and the implementation of multilateral environmental agreements.
The BRICS Environment sector contributes to global environmental governance by fostering collective action, sharing best practices, and supporting green and inclusive growth in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
