BRICS Labour and Employment sector refers to the collaborative framework among the BRICS countries aimed at promoting inclusive labour markets, decent work, social protection, and sustainable employment through policy dialogue, technical cooperation, and exchange of best practices.
Guided by the BRICS Labour and Employment Ministers’ Meeting (LEMM) and supported by working groups, research institutions, and the BRICS Business Council, this cooperation focuses on key areas such as employment generation, skills development, labour rights, occupational safety and health, informal economy formalisation, gender equality in the workplace, and the impacts of digitalisation and demographic transitions on work.
The BRICS Labour and Employment sector contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and strengthens social dialogue and policy coherence among member states in addressing common labour market challenges.
