BRICS Social Development refers to the collaborative framework among the BRICS countries focused on promoting inclusive social policies, reducing inequalities, and improving the quality of life for all through coordinated efforts in social protection, poverty alleviation, and human development.
This cooperation is guided by the BRICS Ministers of Social Development and Social Security Meeting, and supported by expert working groups, research institutions, and policy dialogue platforms. Priority areas include social safety nets, access to basic services, gender equality, youth and elderly welfare, disability inclusion, and integrated approaches to sustainable livelihoods.
The sector also aligns with global development frameworks such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to ending poverty (SDG 1), reducing inequalities (SDG 10), and promoting well-being (SDG 3).
The BRICS Social Development sector strengthens solidarity among member states by fostering inclusive growth, sharing policy innovations, and addressing common social challenges to ensure no one is left behind.
