BRICS Working Group on Counter Terrorism

Last Updated: 14 August 2025

Goal

To enhance coordination and deepen cooperation among BRICS countries in combating terrorism in all its forms, through information sharing, joint strategies, and capacity-building initiatives.

About the Working Group

The BRICS Working Group on Counter Terrorism brings together senior officials and experts from BRICS countries to develop a unified and proactive approach to addressing terrorism-related threats.

The group focuses on key areas such as countering radicalisation, disrupting terrorist financing networks, enhancing border security, and strengthening legal and institutional frameworks. It also encourages collaboration in cyber security and emerging technologies that may be exploited by terrorist groups.

Through regular meetings, technical exchanges, and collaborative programs, the Working Group supports the implementation of decisions made by BRICS National Security Advisors and contributes to global counter-terrorism efforts while respecting the sovereignty and legal systems of each member state.
