Last Updated: 30 September 2025

Goal

To advance cooperation among BRICS countries in mobilising sustainable finance, aligning financial flows with climate and development goals, and fostering resilient, inclusive, and low-carbon economies.

About the Working Group

The BRICS Working Group on Sustainable Finance brings together experts and officials from the finance ministries and central banks of BRICS nations to collaborate on shaping sustainable finance policies and frameworks.

The group focuses on key areas such as green and transition finance, sustainability reporting standards, climate risk assessment, and the development of taxonomies and financial instruments that support the sustainability agenda. It serves as a platform to exchange best practices, explore harmonisation opportunities, and promote innovation in sustainable finance across BRICS economies.

By fostering alignment with global climate and development commitments, the Working Group plays a critical role in embedding sustainability into the financial systems of member countries.
